Papers, Papers, Papers!

I feel like all I do these days is write papers & edit papers. Boo! I'm taking a break from doing just that, & I'm sharing with you these little beauts. They are the property of ohmydeerhandmades.

To Be Like Daniel

Oh golly, I still have the sniffles. And I need to sleep. And I'm "blogging." Oh golly. I just wanted to share an earth-shattering moment in my life. A couple of hours ago I was hanging out with my God, praying, listening, praising. I felt compelled to literally get down on my knees before Him & plead with Him for clarity about certain things & reassurance about others. Tears flowed, & I kept thinking how silly I must have looked by myself, in my room, bowed down to an invisible God. But, I was sweetly reminded of Daniel & his prayer life...

Three times a day he got down on his knees & prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Daniel 6:10

Daniel, too, literally got down on his knees habitually to walk with the Lord daily. God was accustomed to hearing his voice daily. How kewl! I want to be like Daniel...

Moral of the story (I feel like I ramble, always): The physical posture of bending the knee to God's authority reminded me of His sovereignty. I felt strange, true, but felt secure in His power. I challenge you to go before your Creator & humbly bow before Him. It rocked my world.

Take Us To The Start

(That's the name of Matt Hires' first full length album.) It's so great! I don't know why I'm only saying this now when I've had it for months...Anyway, Wednesday night I took my friend Yandira on a little girl's night out. We headed up to Dallas to see Caitlin Crosby, Jason Castro, and my man, Matt Hires. The space was very intimate, & I managed a front row center spot when Matt finally performed. I cannot even convey to you how perfect the whole night was: Matt charmed everyone with his suspenders & classic Reeboks, Jason had the sweetest disposition, & Caitlin just rocked it. Pictures! **I really just love Matt's shoes.

Sniffle, Sniffle. Cough, Cough.

I don't particularly feel like life has been moving at a feverish pace these days, but then I take a glance at my calendar & think that it's no wonder my body has decided to follow suit. Sickness has invaded me-- my brother's old, tattered sweats hang on my lethargic frame, & a water bottle has been my companion (must stay hydrated!) along with bags of cough drops & boxes of tissues. I've been moseying my way around campus from class to class, & I even tried cleaning my bathroom this afternoon, but too much movement, & my head feels like exploding. Thus, I've decided to embrace this nasty cold or whatever it is. He makes me rest...

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.

Take some time to rest. Let your body rest, let your mind rest.
**Yes, I will still be jammin' to Mr.Matt Hires tomorrow night...

Now for some hot tea... : ) Happy Tuesday.

February 18, 2010

I'm in the blogging mood. I'm in the dinner party mood. (Check out the sweet table decor from this dinner party. Smiles all around. )

I'm in the sit outside & bask in the sunshine whilst reading a book mood. I'm in the French studying mood. I'm in the coffee drinking mood. I'm so moody. Relient K song, anyone?

Change of subject: Because blogs are narcissistic & egotistical by nature, I want to show off some sweet Valentine's Day cards I made for two perfect friends & my Mawmaw. Due to my lack of arts & crafts supplies (they're all at home), I had to get creative with some newspaper ads & colored pencils. Check 'em out! : ) I promise I won't mention Valentine's Day again...Until next year.

And with that, I will begin studying some French. I love the darn language. It gets me every time.

J'espère que vous avez un jour beau! Je vous aime très beaucoup.

I Did It! I Did It!

I finally declared a major!
Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies
Early Childhood- 6th Grade Generalist with
English as a Second Language
Plus a minor in French. YES!

Sounds snazzy, huh??
It really means... elementary school teacher.
I only hope I'll be as good of a teacher as Mr.Feeney!

Some other really radical things have happened
this week, too, but they're a secret.
Hope your Monday & Tuesday were as
surprisingly delightful as mine : )

Love Day

For God so loved the world,
that He gave Himself for it,
that we might know.

Love.

Here are some people I was privileged to
spend my Valentine's Day with. I love them.

A Little Reminder

This morning, I stood in my living room wrapped in a blanket & sipping a cup of coffee, & I watched the snow fall that had made it's way to Texas. Now, Sigur Ros is echoing in the background, & I'm watching the snow fall out my bedroom window. Peaceful. Quiet. I'm soaking it up. Today was supposed to be an insanely busy, busy day, but God chose to remind of something so greater than completing a checklist. He reminded me by sending flocks & flocks of little white doves that He has washed me as white as snow.

"Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." Isaiah 1:18

How promising.
And here are some pictures from this afternoon. I had "snow" much fun!

Good Ol' Cup o' Joe

I love coffee so much that I'm considering embarking on a lifelong love affair with it.

The Lord loves righteousness & justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. Psalm 33:5

**We might get snow tomorrow! Yippee!

Juxtapositions

Additional thoughts: Have you ever pondered how creative & orderly God is? He's refreshingly creative (Look at yourself in the mirror.) and so very orderly (Look at yourself in the mirror & check your pulse.) Maybe this thought is only revolutionary to me. Maybe I'm way behind everyone else, but no matter. If that doesn't make sense, check out Genesis 1:1.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Only God could combine wholly creative & completely orderly. In other words, God needed no one to complete Him. He still doesn't need anyone to complete Him, nor will he ever need anyone to complete Him.

I'm so thankful He's completely balanced when I'm not.

Love

Well, we all know Valentine's Day is coming up...Single's Awareness Day, V'Day, The Coolest Day of the Year, whatever you want to call it-- I love it. (I always go out to dinner with my parents. True. Story.) This year, my sweet Mawmaw is my Valentine. She loves me. Forgive me for slightly changing the subject, but there is another love besides that of my grandmother's that makes me beam these days & will for many more days to come. This love far supersedes the way my parents could ever love me, the way any man could ever love me, the way my friends could ever love me...this love is God's love. The unchangeable, unconquerable, immovable, irremovable, unwavering, untiring, unflinching, stubborn love of God.

CAN YOU COMPREHEND IT!? NO.

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one & only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us & sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10

And that's just one verse.
I can do nothing, you can do nothing, we can do nothing to earn His love. And that's what makes it so beautiful. A friend once asked me, "wouldn't you love for your man to do everything for you & love you so much without you ever having to do anything?" My first reaction was that I would feel lazy, but that's the Divine Romance of Christ. We can do nothing to render the outpouring of His love. I love this card...

(P.C. Ohmydeerhandmades)
Rejoice in His love today.
Edit:: I also love the pink that is coming in for the spring wardrobe...despite how much I dislike color.

Spring Has Sprung

According to Punxsutawaney Phil, however, it has not.

But, since I have been so gosh darn productive lately, I allowed myself to meander around on Anthropolgie's site & found that Spring has made it's debut. Hoorah!
How beautiful are these clothes??

(P.C.: Anthropologie)
Naturally, I'm a bit of a colorphobe when it comes to my wardrobe. (Secret: I color code my closet, & the color section is waning terribly.) I have no reason--I just don't like a lot of color, so for these beauties to have made their way onto my little ol' blog is a huge feat. Give your brain some time to wander today, & maybe you'll run into some happy treasures, too. : )
